Bio

In 2008 I created a TV series titled "bands". Before writing/directing/producing "bands" I crewed many projects. My first job in the film industry was in 1972 on Disney's The World's Greatest Athlete. Since then I have climbed through the ranks of many departments including Grip, Electric, and Camera. I will forgo listing hundreds of credits from the early years of my training. However, it is worth noting that as a Focus Puller I worked on over 40 mainstream pictures including: River Wild, Jungle Book, The Cure, Dumb and Dumber, Dying Young, Gleaming the Cube, Russkies, Liebestraum, Windwalker, Revenge of the Ninja, The Executioner's Song, Ski Patrol, and Space Hunter. (Nevermind The Berzerker Curse, Hanger 18, Mind Killer, and The Boogens.) I was also a Director of Photography at the Sundance Institute for 12 summers from 1981 through 1992. As Sundance DOP I helped develop films such as El Norte, Pretty Woman, Desert Bloom, 84 Charlie Mopic, A Dry White Season, Once Around, Dogfight, Crash, and Reservoir Dogs.

Eventually I left focus pulling behind and began to operate and or DP. Over 200 of the projects that I worked on are listed on imdb.com under Brian Sullivan (III).

As Camera Operator you will find titles such as The Strangers (Liv Tyler), High School Musical II, Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Touched by an Angel, and Bones.

As Second Unit Director of Photography titles such as Push (Dakota Fanning), Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, High School Musical III, Bicentennial Man, Almost Heroes (Chris Farley), and Frozen.

As First Unit Director of Photography: The Mine, The Last Day of Summer, Magnificent Seven, Little Secrets, Route 9, Wish Upon a Star, and Paper Brigade.

One intent of this long and thorough apprenticeship was to work with and learn from exceptional film artists. My instinct has always been that in the film business one’s creative capability is not merely a result of education, credits, and on the job problem solving. I have always felt that working with “accomplished artists” is key. Over the years I have been fortunate to work closely with the following exceptional artists:
